What’s with the Name?
The question we get asked the most is: cool name, but what does it mean? If we had a penny for every time we’ve been asked this question we’d probably have enough to buy a case of two of our own beer.
And the answer? Kichesippi means “The Great River”. Prior to 1855, when the City of Ottawa was founded, the river running through it was known as the Kichesippi. The river has always been an integral part of the history of Ottawa and Eastern Ontario.
Experiences
We’ve been involved with the beer industry since 1995 in a number different capacities. And we’ve worked with breweries in Halifax, Toronto, Guelph to British Columbia where each one introduced us to something a little different. You can tell that we’re passionate about Canadian breweries, but we also like consider ourselves a worldly sort. So we tip our hats to breweries and brands from Belgium, Germany and Japan that have all fuelled our passion for great beer.
What do you have that’s local?
During our travels, we always find ourselves asking the same question: WHAT IS THE QUESTION? This question sums up what we are all about.
When someone wants to try your local beer, they want to experience something that is unique to the community. We’re proud to say that our beer has been craft brewed in Ottawa right from the first batch and we plan to keep it that way. You can only find our Natural Blonde in Ottawa and the surrounding communities.
When it comes down to it, we love being part of the local experience.
